Reflectec Fabric™
incorporates a NASA developed material capable of reflecting
97% radiant and 85 - 90% conductive heat which ensures
constant, comfortable temperatures in space suits. The
material has also been used to protect satellites, unmanned
spacecraft, and the present space shuttle fleet to guard
their inner workings from the extreme temperatures of
space.
Reflectec Fabric™
can be incorporated into the design of virtually any
application seeking to decrease energy costs, reduce
stress, diminish heat fatigue, or enhance performance.
Reflectec Fabric™ is
a new and improved composite flexible fabric insulation
developed by MSR Industries, Inc. that is useful
as a thermal protection system for specific heating
environments which contain conductive convective, and
radiative heating elements.
The Reflectec Fabric™ provides
an improved lightweight insulation which is extremely
effective in terms of thermal protection of structures
or objects subjected singly or repeatedly to higher
heat fluxes.
The Reflectec Fabric™ has
high emissivity and resistance to a high heat flux and
thermal insulation capability up to 1200+ degrees Fahrenheit.
By combining fabrics, other materials and sewing
threads having high heat flux and emissivity, along
with a high break strength and a low density, the lightweight Reflectec
Fabric™ can be designed to have a personal or
commercially viable thermal insulation capability from
0 degrees C (32 degrees F) to 1200+ degrees Fahrenheit.
It provides flexible, durable, lightweight, high-temperature
resistant insulation suitable for repeated use.
* Note: All materials in MSR Industries
products are made in America by Americans. All MSR Industries
products are manufactured in Roanoke and Salem, VA.
Benefits • Protection capabilities:
The fabric has an effective lower thermal conductivity
and diffusion than state-of-the-art insulation and thus
is better able to protect substructures from reaching
a critical temperature.
• Better performance by weight: Ounce for ounce,
the fabric performs better than current thermal protection
materials.
• Can be waterproofed: The fabric can easily
and effectively be made waterproof.
